Man arrested after police officer assaulted and knife seized in Walsall town centre
A man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted as officers recovered a lock knife.
Officers from West Midlands Police recovered the knife after spotting suspicious activity on Midland Road on Tuesday (August 26).
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker after a lock knife was found in the area.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've arrested a man after recovering a knife in Walsall.
"Officers spotted suspicious activity off Midland Road, near the town centre, yesterday (August 26).
"One of our cops was assaulted as a lock knife was found in the area.
"A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker.
"He's currently in custody for questioning."
