'It's terrifying, it's just so sudden': Fear and shock as murder investigation launched in Smethwick after woman found dead at an industrial estate
A woman was found dead at an industrial estate in Smethwick early on Monday morning.
"I couldn't believe it, we didn't hear anything," one resident said as they stood near a cordon at an industrial estate off Woodburn Road, Smethwick.
The cordon was put into place after officers discovered the body of a woman on the road just after 6.10am today (August 11).

Emergency services teams quickly tried to revive the woman; however, it became apparent that nothing could be done to save her, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
Now, locals have spoken about the shock and fear they feel following the sudden death, saying that they "are beyond horrified".

Shariq Iqbal, 40, who lives near the area, said: "I couldn't believe it. We didn't hear anything until the sirens came down this morning. It's a regular route I take to work. It's not really that bad.
"You can't help but feel terrible for her. Thinking about what she must have gone through. It's so sad. God be with her and her family."

A murder investigation has been launched into the incident, with police saying that they are 'in the early stages' of the investigation.
Tyler Morris, 23, who usually walks in Black Patch Park, near where the incident took place, said: "It's pretty quiet down there, especially when it's nighttime. It's shocking to think something this bad happened.
"I don't live far, and I didn't hear anything. But my neighbours are all shocked by it. It's quite scary, really."
One local, a 26-year-old woman, who didn't want to be named, said they heard the police cars arrive, but "didn't expect it to be that bad".

She said: "It's horrible. I thought it was a car crash or something, not murder.
"I'm lost for words really, you don't know why it happened, but it makes you scared to walk around at night. My thoughts are with her family."
Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact West Midlands Police via the force's 101 number, or alternatively on the Live Chat service on their website, quoting log number 622 of August 11.
