Stourport-based oil and waste recycling industry leader joins Slicker Recycling as part of investment deal

An oil and waste recycling firm has welcomed a leading industry figure to the business as part of a new investment and equity deal.

Andreas Weinberger has joined the executive board of Stourport-based Slicker Recycling and will provide industry expertise alongside a fresh round of capital.

Mr Weinberger, via his investment company, has become a significant shareholder in Slicker Recycling's parent company Greenbottle and co-investor in AVISTA Green, a re-refinery company in Denmark.

The German entrepreneur is recognised as one of Europe's leading circular economy authorities on waste oil collections and re-refining.

He spent a decade as chief executive and chairman of German recycling firm AVISTA Oil and helped to shape the global re-refining industry.

Mark Olpin is executive chairman of Slicker Recycling which employs more than 200 people and has depots across the UK alongside its Stourport HQ.

He said: "Andreas brings immense oil waste sector experience, not just to Slicker Recycling but to the group as a whole.

"We are thrilled to welcome him as a shareholder but also as someone whose expertise, knowledge and strategic guidance will be invaluable in supporting the next stage of our growth plans.
