The property is set to feature in the next Bond Wolfe auction on October 23, with a guide price of £400,000-plus.

Ian Tudor, commercial auction director at Bond Wolfe, said the property is considered suitable for a variety of alternative uses, subject to planning permission.

Mr Tudor said: “This property is formed of two main buildings, connected at ground floor level, along with a range of single storey outbuildings formerly used as a custody block.

“The main building on the left-hand side is a former Georgian-style property, while the right-hand building is believed to date from 19th century.

“The property was granted its Grade II-listing for what Historic England describes as its ‘stucco plinth, moulded eaves cornice, sash windows, plain stucco doorcase with engaged columns, frieze and cornice’, some of which date from as early as 1756.

“The accommodation extends to approximately 5,173 sq ft net internal area and stands on a site of approximately 0.28 acres.

“This property closed as a police station in 2025 and the ground floor includes a kitchen, former staff room, stores, reception and waiting area, five offices, interview room, two former cells and toilets.

“On the first floors are landings, five offices and toilets, with four storage rooms on the second floor, and then outside there is surfaced car parking as well as the range of single storey outbuildings.”

The property occupies a prominent position fronting the northern side of Balance Street, with the west boundary directly next to a residential care home, and the east boundary neighbouring a residential apartment block.

The immediate area is predominately residential in nature and forms the start of Uttoxeter town centre, which is just a short stroll away. The county town of Stafford is 14 miles away.

Bond Wolfe is selling the property in partnership with Carter Jonas estate agency.

The auction is due to start at 8.30am and will be livestreamed on Bond Wolfe’s website - with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
