Lichfield's MP today welcomed supermarket giant Tesco's plans to create more than 1,000 jobs by building a £63 million distribution centre near the city.

Michael Fabricant said "jobs is jobs" and the move would bring further economic success and more new businesses to the city.

Tesco yesterday announced plans to transfer its operations for the whole of the Midlands to the Fradley Park industrial estate. It will replace an existing depot that is set to close at Crick, near Northampton.
