Plane bound for Morocco unexpectedly diverted to Birmingham Airport

A Ryanair flight was diverted from its travel to Morocco and unexpectedly landed at Birmingham Airport at 11.15am after a passenger fell ill.

The passenger plane set off from Edinburgh Airport at 7.22am.

But instead of reaching its intended destination of Marrakesh, Morocco, the plane was diverted and landed at Birmingham Airport.

A spokesperson for Ryanair told the Express & Star:

“This flight from Edinburgh to Marrakesh (Sep 13) diverted to Birmingham after a passenger onboard became ill.

“The aircraft was met by paramedics upon landing at Birmingham Airport, and the passenger was offloaded for further treatment."
