'Absolutely gutted' - Staffordshire pub announces sudden closure
The Bradford Arms has ceased trading as of today
A popular pub in Wheaton Aston has closed its doors suddenly, with a Facebook message thanking customers.
The Bradford Arms has ceased trading as of today (Tuesday, May 26), with sister venues The Bell Inn at Stafford and The Navigation Inn at Gnosall staying open.
No reason has yet been given for the closure but it is understood pub owner Stonegate Group is keen to re-open The Bradford Arms as a going concern.
On the Facebook post, landlady Hannah Darrall said: “Some places are more than just pubs… and The Bradford Arms was one of them.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of The Bradford Arms.
“We would like to sincerely thank all our customers, friends, and colleagues for your continued love, support, and unforgettable memories throughout the years.
“It has truly been a pleasure serving you all. The Bradford Arms was more than just a pub, it was a place for family meals, celebrations, laughter, friendships, and memories that will stay with us forever.
“Although this chapter is coming to an end, our journey continues, and we would be delighted to welcome you at our other pubs The Bell Inn The Navigation Inn, Gnosall. We will also be sharing updates about our new venue very soon.”
Underneath the post, Sarah Williams posted: “Oh wow that is sad news. Many memories of growing up of the Bradford Arms.
Leah Ellis said: “Absolutely gutted. I was so happy this place had been taken over and opened again.”
J Wood Marina said: “Another one bites the dust, sadly. Bradford Arms was always an amazing place in its heyday. Sad news to the hospitality trade, “ whilst Angela Law said: “Good luck in your new venture.”
The Express & Star reported last week on the closure of The Greyhound Inn in Lower Penn which shut unexpectedly, with the owners and landlords blaming “increasing pressures” on the hospitality industry.
Hannah Darrall, the landlady of the Bradford Arms, Wheaton Aston has been contacted for comment.
