Teenager, 17, arrested after stolen Land Rover Discovery found in Lichfield hours after being reported to police

A teenager was arrested after police found a vehicle that was reported stolen in Lichfield.

Staffordshire Police's Road Crime Team shared a photo of their unit surrounding the white Land Rover Discovery - which they way was found less than four hours after it was reported stolen. 

Officers say they arrested a 17-year-old after the vehicle was spotted in Lichfield last night (March 23). The car has since returned it to its owner. 

A spokesperson said: "Stolen from the West Midlands, less than 4 hours before we successfully stopped this vehicle in Lichfield this evening.

"We arrested the 17 year old driver before recovering the vehicle back to its rightful owner."

The vehicle recovered as part of Operation Lightning - a  dedicated operation focusing on road safety, helping to make Staffordshire's roads safer. 

It aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on the roads and to disrupt and deter criminals from using the road network.
