Historic former equestrian products factory in Walsall which did business with the Queen is going to auction
The former premises of an historic Walsall horse brush maker is up for sale in Bond Wolfe’s March auction.
Unit 2 at 75 Midland Road in Walsall has a guide price of £625,000-plus in the livestreamed auction taking place on Thursday March 26.
The freehold property was, until recently, the premises of Vale Brothers - which had been making horse brushes for more than 200 years and was a favoured supplier of products to the Queen.

Ian Tudor, commercial auction director at Bond Wolfe, said: “These are substantial vacant industrial premises and offices in the centre of Walsall, extending to approximately 29,763 sq ft, with a secure yard and car parking.
“The property is considered suitable for a wide variety of alternative uses or redevelopment, subject to planning permission.
“The historic premises were formally home to Vale Brothers, at one stage the largest manufacturer of horse grooming brushes in the world.
“Founded in 1786, Vale Brothers held a Royal Warrant for supplying equestrian products to Queen Elizabeth II.
“The property includes large workshops, a two-storey office area, store rooms and a basement cellar.
“Outside is a yard and shared use of a large car park, with secure gated access from Graphic Close.
“There are two roller shutter doors, one directly on Midland Road and the second from within the secure yard to the side.
“The main workshop areas are configured over a number of adjoining bays which lead to a prefabricated two-storey structure, offering additional offices and stores.”
The property is in a prominent position on the eastern side of Midland Road, within easy walking distance of Walsall town centre.
Offers in excess of the guide price may be considered prior to the auction.
The former horse brush factory is among 178 lots set to appear in the auction which starts at 8.30am and which will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
