Neighbourhood officers in Darlaston work with partners in town as part of initiative

Police neighbourhood teams have been tackling anti-social behaviour, carrying out patrols and engaging with schools and communities in Darlaston, Bentley and Moxley as part of Safer Streets Winter

Officers and PCSO’s have been patrolling the area and focusing on hotspots for anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Youths have been identified, and action taken, while for less severe ASB, officers have engaged with them about their behaviour and the potential consequences if this continues.

Engagement with local businesses and the communities through surgeries have taken place and drop-in sessions have been hosted as well as crime prevention advice and giving out personal alarms and advising about a personal safety app.

Reassurance has also been offered to communities during the darker nights as well as crime prevention advice.

Teams  patrolled on Bentley Playing Fields where they engaged with the community and dog walkers.

Officers also visited a school in the area to talk about cyberbullying and the Church of God Prophecy in Bentley where PCSOs engaged with members of the congregation and offered crime prevention advice as well as personal safety.

This work has been carried out as part of the national Winter of Action initiative where police have been working with partners in town centres across the region tackling crime, reassuring communities and ensuring  high streets are welcoming and safe for everyone 

Inspector Pete Poolton, neighbourhood policing manager for the Darlaston area, said: “Working alongside our partners including Walsall Council and representatives from Darlaston Plan we have been carrying out activities as part of our #SaferStreetsWinter, with the aim of tackling crime and offering reassurance to our communities living in the Darlaston and surrounding areas.

“We work closely with the Darlaston Board where The Safer Streets Winter activity has been discussed and supported by the board.”
