Tim Heaselgrave, of the Timothy James Partnership, was appointed liquidator of SDMS in September. He in turn has instructed Kumar and Company to prepare an auction sale of its extensive range of specialist security assets which is expected to attract interest from bidders from both across the UK and internationally.

The auction will run until Thursday February 26 and details can be found online at www.kumarandco.co.uk

Rajiv Kumar, managing director of Kumar and Company, said: “SDMS, which was based in Fulham in London, was a manufacturer and supplier of anti-terrorist and internal security equipment such as metal detectors, surveillance and counter surveillance systems, communication and radio systems, person and property protection equipment including full bomb disposal suits and helmets.

“There are even three sets of night vision binoculars, valued at £5,000 each.

“As such, this will be a highly specialised sale and is likely to attract interest internationally.”

Before becoming another victim of the current tough trading conditions, the business was one of the UK's largest suppliers of anti-terrorist and internal security equipment to governments of more than 150 countries worldwide, plus many large corporate clients.

Trading since 1989, SDMS Security Products has supplied equipment to more than 150 governments including the UK Ministry of Defence, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, as well as to many UN organisations.

Walsall-based Kumar and Company chartered surveyors, based in North Street, offer specialist advice for the valuation of complex machinery and business assets. Incorporated in 2009, the firm acts for insolvency practitioners, local authorities and private businesses across the UK.

As well as asset and business auctions, the company also offers valuation reports, pre-lending advice, financial reporting, asset disposal and recovery, and has a specialist audio visual sector knowledge and experience.
