Man arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and dangerous driving after police chase stolen car in Darlaston

A man is in custody after police recovered a vehicle which had been stolen in Willenhall this weekend.

Officers from West Midlands Police's Roads Policing Unit had tracked the car to nearby Darlaston, where it failed to stop for them at around 11.30am today (Sunday, December 28).

Following a short pursuit, it came to a stop near the junction of Willenhall Street and Hall Street East.

Hall Street East was closed to traffic between Willenhall Street and Bayley Crescent as a result.

A police spokesperson said: "Drones and dog unit were deployed, and traffic officers detained a man found hiding nearby.

"The car was recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner.

"A man, aged 46, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving, and remains in police custody."
