Care worker at West Bromwich nursing home sentenced for ill treatment
A care worker at a West Bromwich nursing home hit a patient with a mechanical hoist, stood on his feet and dragged him backwards in a chair.
.
Lesey Thompson, aged 66, had a previously unblemished nearly 30 year record when the offence of ill treatment by a care worker occurred, at Hill Top Lodge Care Home, West Bromwich on May 6 2023.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard 91-year-old Rupert Richards , a resident at the home who was not mobile himself, was argumentative and Thompson 'snapped' in dealing with him.
CCTV played to the court saw Thomson appearing to catch his head in the hoist used to move patients, standing on his feet and dragging his chair backwards from the communal area to his room.
The prosecution said the victim was visibly upset at his treatment and swore at Thompson, although he was not physically injured.
