Local charity Care Packs and volunteers from global technology company Cisco, including Chief Executive Sarah Walker have teamed up with Walsall Council to ease the financial strain of Christmas in the town on December 17.

From 1pm to 2:30pm, volunteers will deliver 330 free baby care packs to Walsall Council’s four Family Hubs, with a further 180 distributed to community shops across the borough.

The free baby care packages are filled with essential, staple items for babies and young children including baby wipes, nappy sacks, cotton wool pads, shampoo and wash, lotion, and sponges - providing approximately £8 worth of necessities per pack.

The initiative aims to support families facing financial pressures during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, ensuring they can enjoy the holiday season with a little extra cheer.

Councillor Mark Statham, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Walsall Council, said: “Walsall Council is dedicated to supporting vulnerable families across the borough who are currently experiencing poverty.

“That is why we are so grateful to Care Packs for the continued support we receive with the free baby care packs provided.

"These packs will make a vital difference to families in our community who are facing financial hardship, and all in time for Christmas.”

"Our baby care packs are more than essential items, they are gifts of dignity, hope, and care.

"Through this work, we aim to ensure that every baby and child is welcomed with the essentials they need and the message that they are valued.”
