The principals of the Dudley borough's three main colleges have issued a joint statement following the news that plans to open a Black Country campus of the top Eton College in Dudley will be progressed nearly four years after they were first announced in 2022.

The plan had been on hold since Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced a review of all free schools in October last year, but on Thursday December 11 Dudley Council confirmed the plan is now back on following an announcement in Westminster.

The announcement, which was warmly welcomed by Dudley Council leader Councillor Patrick Harley, means plans to provide a new selective sixth form run by Star Academies and the Eton Star Partnership, that would cater for 240 post-16 pupils per year, can now proceed.
