Peter Windsor, 61, who was also found guilty of stalking Klass’s Classic FM colleague Katie Breathwick by sending her details of a DIY will-writing kit and other “raving” and “unhinged” mail, will face a sentencing hearing at Warwick Crown Court on December 19.

A trial at Birmingham Crown Court in October heard Windsor, of Mary Road, Stechford, Birmingham, left Klass feeling “sheer terror” after sending her the items.

Windsor, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and claimed he was not guilty by reason of insanity, denied stalking both Klass and Breathwick by sending items to Classic FM’s central London studios between March 2020 and August 2024 but jurors reached unanimous guilty verdicts on October 7 after four hours of deliberations.

During a hearing at Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday at which Windsor was not present, Judge Tom Rochford said he needed further information from the prosecution about the availability of bed spaces before he decided whether to impose a prison sentence or hospital order.

The judge said: “There are three options – imprisonment, which looking at it, he may have served with time on remand, a hospital order without restriction, or a hospital order with restriction.”

Prosecution counsel Timothy Sapwell told the judge they were waiting on a further report from a doctor who would be meeting the defendant on Thursday.
