Sandwell pub gets a zero food hygiene score as 22 Black Country businesses receive new ratings

Restaurants, cafes and pubs across the Black Country and Stafford have been handed new food hygiene ratings following another set of inspections.

New Food Standards Agency ratings have been dished out to 22 food spots across Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Stafford as the latest round of inspections takes place. 

The ratings are designed to give a snapshot of a food venue's general level of hygiene standards, with inspectors taking a close look at how a restaurant, pub, or takeaway handles its food.

In the ratings, a score of five is considered 'very good', four 'good', three 'generally satisfactory', two 'some improvement necessary', one 'major improvement', and zero 'urgent improvement required'.

This month, 22 new food hygiene ratings were served to dining spots across the region, with one being awarded a score of 'zero'.
