West Midlands Police stopped a total of 25 drivers as part of a Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation (MARSO) in Kingswinford on Thursday, October 2.

The operation saw the Dudley neighbourhood policing team join forces with the West Midlands Police Roads Policing Unit and Staffordshire Police's traffic team to target commercial vehicles and those not abiding by the laws of the road.

In the operation, which included officers in unmarked and marked police vehicles, 25 vehicles were stopped, ranging from cars, vans, flatbed trucks and even 4x4s towing trailers.

Drivers were reported for a variety of offences, including not wearing seatbelts, their vehicles being overweight, and MOT and tyre offences.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We also found multiple motorists who had illegal tints on their windows - resulting in them having to peel them off on-site.

"Some were also reported for having insecure loads, including work equipment not securely tied down that could have led to serious consequences."

Police were also joined by the licensing teams from Wolverhampton Council, Dudley Council, and South Staffordshire District Council, as well as the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency and the HMRC fuel testing unit, who helped to catch commercial vehicles that were flaunting road laws.

The spokesperson added: "A huge thank you to all of our partners and Staffordshire Police for joining us.

"We’ll continue to work together to conduct operations like this and create safer roads for everyone."
