'She will forever remain in our hearts' - Tributes to West Bromwich canal murder victim as two appear in court

The family of a woman who was tragically found dead in a canal in West Bromwich have paid tribute to her.

The body of Chereiss Bailey, aged 36, was found in water near Ryders Green Road on Tuesday (October 7).

Two people have been charged  as part of West Midland Police's investigation. 

Yesterday (Thursday) John Anslow, aged 64, appeared before Worcester Magistrates Court charged with murder, and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body.

He appeared alongside Hayley-Marie Ferguson, aged 41, who was charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body and assisting an offender.

Both are due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court for a further hearing today (Friday).  

Specialist officers are supporting relatives of Chereiss and the family today released a statement;

It said:  "Chereiss was a bright, beautiful, loving soul who was much loved and adored by us all. 

"Words could never truly describe the anger, pain and heartbreak that we are feeling as a family. She will forever remain in our hearts."
