Stourbridge MP calls meeting to discuss speeding issues in the town
Stourbridge MP Cat Eccles has called a public meeting to discuss driving and anti-social behaviour on roads in the borough.
The MP will meet with disgruntled residents and police and representatives of Dudley Council to discuss ways of cracking down on speeding and dangerous and nuisance driving.
Recently she worked with West Midlands Police to bring in speed checks on Stourbridge ring road and is also lobbying them and the council to turn speed cameras back on.
Other areas she has identified as 'hotspots' include Ham Lane Pedmore, Mill Race Lane just off Stourbridge Ring Road, the Thorns Road in Brierley Hill and the Church Road junction in Netherton.

She said: "It is a problem all too common not just to Dudley borough and Stourbridge but a wider area and when I was elected as MP for the area I pledged I would commit my role towards improving safety and dealing with anti-social behaviour across the constituency.

"I have heard from countless residents across the community about the continuing issues of speeding, dangerous driving, noise and anti-social behaviour on our roads.
"For example on Stourbridge Ring Road, late-night racing has become an alarming occurrence constituents regularly contact me about, and although we have managed to increase the police presence and do speed checks, we need to continue to crack down.
"On Thorns Road, residents have been campaigning for improvements for years, yet dangerous driving continues to persist. These issues not only put lives at risk but also undermine the safety and confidence of people in the area."
Speedwatch checks were carried out on Ham Lane and High Park Avenue, Wollaston earlier this year. and more than 30 drivers were found to be speeding by a team from Pedmore Community Watch in August.
The meeting - at a location to be decided - will be held on Friday, October 17 at 6.30pm. Anyone who wants to attend should contact the MP's office at cat.eccles.mp@parliament.uk or visit her website.
