A man convicted of terrorist offences in 2017 after moving to Walsall has been sent back to prison for breaching the conditions of his release
Muslim convert Ismael Watson, from Walsall and formerly known as Jack, was convicted of terrorism offences in 2017 for attempting to enter Syria to fight with Islamic State a year earlier.
As he attempted to cross the border from Turkey into Syria, he was detained by Turkish authorities and deported to the UK after vowing to carry out terrorist atrocities during encrypted chats with undercover MI5 agents..
Now the 35-year-old man has been jailed for breaching conditions of his release from prison after serving his five year sentence.
Ismael Watson was arrested in London in September 2024 after failing to comply with his notification requirements which were in place when he was released.
He pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to failing to give his home address or contact details for four separate mobile numbers to the authorities.
He has today (Friday, September 19 been sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to two years and four months.

During his trial for terrorism offences in 2017 Jurors heard Watson grew up with a non-Muslim family in Liverpool before he converted to Islam and moved to Walsall.
They heard once he moved to the town he became ‘quickly radicalised’ after watching ISIS videos online in 2015.
