Walsall residents have welcomed the appearance of national flags and iconography that have appeared on Walsall streets over the last few weeks.

The flags and painted symbols, which include both the Union Jack and the Saint George's Cross, began appearing as early as August 18; however, they have become more prominent in the West Midlands and beyond as the days go on.

Erected by residents of the area, the flags and paintings have hit the headlines in recent weeks after Birmingham residents entered a row with the city council, who had earlier threatened to take them down.

Now, hundreds of flags and national symbols have been erected and painted across the Walsall region, sparking joy, but also confusion from residents of the area.
