Five men dramatically admit shooting Darlaston father after switching pleas to guilty hours before start of seven week trial
Five men have admitted being involved in the shooting of a Darlaston father after he had just finished the school run last October.
Before the seven week trial opened at Wolverhampton Crown Court the defendants, who originally were charged with conspiracy to murder, pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Their victim, in his 40s, was blasted with a shotgun on his drive in the face, hand and buttocks but survived the assassination attempt outside his house at 9am on Charles Foster Street, Darlaston, on Friday, October 11 last year.
The court heard the five men stole cars and obtained a double barrel shotgun and travelled to Darlaston three times to shoot their victim, succeeding on their final attempt. However, after being shot twice he managed to escape with his life whilst the gunman reloaded the shotgun.

Mohammed Ishtiaq, aged 22, of Allens Avenue, Abdullah Amjad, aged 22, of Floyer Road, and 25-year-old Shamus Hussain, of Oldknow Road, all of Small Heath, Birmingham, were arrested in late October and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Samir Khan, aged 18, and Dilawar Khan, aged 19,both from Monica Road, Small Heath, were picked up by West Midlands Police in November and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. There were a variety of motorising offences concerning the stolen cars used in the shooting.
