Staff members, students and parents gathered at Claregate Primary School, on Chester Avenue, Wolverhampton, on Thursday to say a final farewell to their longstanding headteacher, Mr Mick Murphy.

The now former-headteacher announced his retirement earlier this year, bringing an end to a teaching career of more than 37 years.

Students at the school worked hard to create a cardboard crown, sceptre and cape for their headteacher, with Mr Murphy saying that he was 'truly made a king' for the day.

Mr Murphy, 59, said: "I have quite literally been treated like a king for a day. The students made a crown and cape for me, and we all sang songs and talked about the amazing times we have had over the years.
