Here are the locations on the Black Country water network getting new mains pipes in £84m overhaul
Work is getting underway to replace ageing water pipes in a strategic scheme taking place in Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell as part of an £84 million improvement programme.
The major South Staffs Water project is part of efforts to target specific locations on the pipe network which have a history of bursts or leaks and are prone to such issues.
The mains works which is part of a two-year plan is getting underway from this week with the first digging works starting in the Walsall area in a move to reduce leaks by 20 per cent in the regions it serves.

Crews have already carried out work at Edward Avenue in Aldridge.

Other up and coming projects include Stourdell Road in Cradley near Halesowen next month, Roberts Green Road in Lower Gornal in early September and Suffolk Road in Friar Park, Wednesbury in late September.

The company said customers in the affected areas will be sent further information about the work closer to the time along with more dates. It added that disruption would be kept to a minimum and in some areas crews will be tunnelling under the road to prevent the need to dig a trench across a whole street or road for pipe installation.
