E-scooter rider in Bilston seriously injured after crashing into street furniture
A man was rushed to the hospital after the e-scooter he was riding crashed into street furniture in Bilston.
Emergency services were called Proud's Lane, Bilston, Wolverhampton, shortly before 1.20pm on Thursday, to reports that an e-scooter had struck street furniture on the road.
Two ambulances and a merit trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic attended the scene.
On arrival, West Midlands Ambulance Service discovered the rider of the e-scooter, a man in his 30s, who had sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The man was rushed to the hospital.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving an e-scooter on Prounds Lane in Bilston at 12.32pm and sent two ambulances and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene.
"On arrival, crews found a man, who they treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham."
West Midlands Police have since launched an appeal for information into the incident, asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or has CCTV or doorbell footage, to contact them directly.
A force spokesperson said: "We were called to Proud’s Lane, Bilston, shortly before 1.20pm yesterday (Thurs) after a scooter struck street furniture.
"The driver of the scooter, a man, in his 30s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.
"Witnesses to the collision should please call us on 101 quoting log number 2607 of 3 July."
