Pair accused of Wednesfield murder sent messages to each other about who would take the blame for killing

A jury in the case of two people accused of murder have heard evidence of text messages and voice notes between the two in which they appeared to be arguing about who was going to take the blame.

On Tuesday (July 1) Wolverhampton Crown Court heard evidence from a Romanian-born police officer who has served with West Midlands Police for eight years and has been part of the homicide squad for three.

She speaks fluent Romanian and was brought in to translate phone records after Vasilica Bornescu, 34, and Ovidiu Gurita, 38, were twice arrested, in June 2023 when they were bailed and again in September 2024.

The pair are jointly charged with the murder of Ricardo Maragliano in Wednesfield on May 30, 2023.
