Oldbury shooting: Man appears in court on firearms charges

Police have charged a man with a firearms offence after a gun was fired at a house in Oldbury last week.

A window was damaged at the property on Badsey Road in Oldbury at around 1.20am on Wednesday 25 June, but no one is believed to have been injured.

Kane Payne, aged 26, was arrested on Monday afternoon and yesterday (Tuesday) was charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence.

Payne was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton magistrates today (Wednesday).

Chief  Inspector Imran Mirza, of Sandwell Police, said: "We're carrying extra patrols in the area to reassure residents, and show that we won't tolerate gun violence on the streets of the borough.

"We're actively targeting those involved in gun crime and work 24/7 to bring them to justice."
