Goods van stolen near Walsall was allegedly modified for cashpoint burglary conspiracy
A group of alleged cashpoint thieves used a modified stolen van to carry out a raid in the Bloxwich area, a jury has heard.
Seven men and one woman, from the Bloxwich, Wolverhampton, Bromsgrove and Cumbria areas are standing trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court in relation to burglary conspiracy offences following a string of alleged incidents between January 1 and October 15 last year.
Mr Richard Whitcombe, prosecuting, said the owner of a Mercedes van described how he left the flatbed vehicle worth about £4,000 parked up in Booth Street, in Darlaston, on August 23 last year, but it had disappeared when he returned to it the next day.
"At around 8am the following morning he found that it had been stolen. He was still in possession of the van keys and there was no sign of broken glass. He had no idea how it was stolen. His CCTV showed it being driven off after it was stolen," Mr Whitcombe told the jury.
