Runners young and old donned their best running gear to take part in this weekend's Aldridge 10k festival on June 8.

The event, which started in Aldridge town centre, Walsall, saw hundreds of people attend, including plenty of children who took part in the 400 meters and one-mile course.

Thankfully the weather held up for the majority of the event, with only a little rain being experienced throughout the morning.

However, the little rain we did experience didn't stop the runners, with plenty of children being seen beaming with joy as they raced each other to the finish line.

The event started at 9.30am with the beginning of the children's races and trophy presentation, before the adults rushed to the course to take part in the full 10k route.

Pictures from the scene of the children portion of the race show parents cheering on their young ones as they run the one mile and 400m run, with many of the kids being seen to glide past the finish line.

See our selection of 16 fantastic images showing parents and their children running the fantastic event.
