Man who was caught with drugs in Bilston is spared jail after court accepts he found them
A regular heroin user who was stopped in Bilston with a bag of the drug along with other class A substances has been told he is 'Incredibly fortunate' to have avoided a jail sentence.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Keiron Mullinder was also found with crack cocaine worth £1,700 and six bags of cocaine worth between £1,200 and £1,320 when police - patrolling a 'known drugs area' - stopped him in Bilston on October 14 last year.
When arrested and questioned he claimed he had found the haul and was going to use the heroin himself.
Matthew Wise, prosecuting, told the court: "Officers were patrolling in Bow Street, Bilston, an area they knew to be where drugs were dealt, when they came across Mullinder, who had three bags of class A drugs on him, namely crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin. He claimed he had found the drugs in the street.
"Whilst he was in custody, the interviewing officer noted the amount of calls coming through to the defendant's phone, over 30 during a period of around 15 minutes, and it was later found to be a 'drugs phone' although this was something he denied, as well as being a dealer.
