Motorists warned of long delays following crash on M42 in Staffordshire

Road users have been warned of long delays following a crash on the M42 in Staffordshire.

The M42, near Junction 10 for Tamworth, is experiencing long delays due to a crash on the route. 

The incident was first reported at around 7.02pm, with National Highways West Midlands warning road users of long delays of around 45 minutes.

Around two miles of congestion has also been reported on the route, with the roads group saying that there are also delays on the A5 southbound. 

A National Highways West Midlands spokesperson said: "There are reports of a collision on the M42 J10 (Tamworth) roundabout which is causing long delays on the A5 southbound. 

"There are 45 min delays above normal travel time with 2 miles congestion."

The collision has since cleared, with National Highways West Midlands saying that residual delays of around 30 minutes remain.

The group said: "The collision on the M42 J10 roundabout has cleared and all lanes are now reopened. 

"There are 30 minute delays above normal travel times following this inicdent, so allow time for delays to clear."

Emergency services have been approached for more information.
