'It's not over - my work will continue' - Council leader vows to keep working for Walsall after shock resignation
After his shock resignation as leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Garry Perry has vowed to continue working for the borough.
Councillor Perry announced on Wednesday (May 21) that he would be stepping down as leader of the council, citing 'bullying and harassment' from inside the council as the reason for his sudden decision.
However, the councillor has said that his 'work is not over' as he will refocus his efforts on his Pelsall ward, aiming to tackle vehicle crime, antisocial behaviour and off-road biking, as well as the concerns of his constituents.
Speaking to the Express & Star, he said: "Since day one in 1998, I have always stood on the point of putting Pelsall first, putting Walsall first - with my team, that was their main focus, that is where they put their energy.
"Some of the messages I have received since I stood down have been really encouraging, showing overwhelming support, it's lovely to see."
