'Delays in service' after tram breaks down at Bilston stop

West Midlands Metro has warned of disruptions to regular commutes after a tram broke down on the line.

The disruptions come after a broken down tram became caught at Bradley Lane, Bilston, at around 5am this morning, with trams being unable to run between Wednesbury Parkway and Wolverhampton Station. 

Tickets were accepted on the National Express West Midlands service 79, however, the tram has since been repaired and the line is now clear. 

While the trams are back in service between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village, West Midlands Metro has warned of possible residual delays due to the stoppage. 

The group announced on X: "Trams are now back operating between Wolverhampton Station & Edgbaston Village. However, we do have delays in service. 

"Tickets accepted on is still in place on nxwestmidlands 79 bus between Wolverhampton and Wednesbury bus stations."
