A woman has denied murdering a baby in the Black Country five years ago.
Two-month-old Harleen Bains died after sustaining head injuries on July 23, 2020, at a maisonette on Caddick Crescent, West Bromwich.
In the days following the death, Harleen's parents were subsequently arrested but released on bail.
Today (Monday, March 17) at Wolverhampton Crown Court Zara Arsalan, 30, was charged with the baby's murder.
Arsalan was also charged with allowing the death of a child as "being a member of the same household as and having had frequent contact with Harleen Bains, [she] caused that person's death or [was], or ought to have been, aware that there was a significant risk of serious physical harm being caused to that person by the unlawful act of a member of her household which occurred in circumstances of the kind that [she] foresaw or ought to have foreseen and [she] failed to take such steps to protect her".
