Former Walsall pub set to be demolished to make way for apartment block

A Walsall canalside pub is set to be bulldozed to make way for a four storey residential apartment block.

The New Navigation, Old Birchills, was one of the pubs which became a victim of the Covid pandemic and did not reopen after the lockdowns.

Redstar Estates Ltd, owned by Amarjit Singh, has applied to Walsall Council to replace the pub with a canal side apartment block.

JBVJ Architects submitted a statement to the council's department about the development. 

The company said: "We have been appointed to provide the redevelopment of the site to provide a new development comprising of the demolition of an existing two storey derelict Public House and erection of 3/4 storey residential block with associated amenity and parking provision.
