Man wanted over shop theft 170 miles away arrested in West Bromwich

A man wanted on suspicion of a shop theft around 170 miles away has been arrested in West Bromwich town centre.

Officers arrested the man, wanted on suspicion of a theft in Cumbria, during a day of targeted police action.

Separately, three teenagers were arrested after a man was assaulted and robbed of his phone in Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, on November 29.

Another man, wanted on suspicion of a separate assault in West Bromwich, was also arrested.

The suspects have all since been bailed while further enquiries are carried out, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said. 

Sgt Paul Bishop, from the West Bromwich Neighbourhood, Team said: “We are committed to identifying offenders and arresting those who are suspected of crime.

“As we approach Christmas, there will be a higher footfall in the town but our officers will be out keeping you safe.
