E&S Great Big Thank You Awards: Voice of Strictly Alan Dedicoat to host award ceremony
He's the voice of Strictly and of the National Lottery, but now Alan Dedicoat is to become the voice of the Express & Star's Great Big Thank You Awards, as he takes up the role of compère for the ceremony.
The awards, which were launched this summer, saw hundreds of people nominated for the various prestigious titles.
The categories include: Community Champion, Unsung Sporting Hero, Angel of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Young Star of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Grandparent of the Year, Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year and Inspirational Leader of the Year.
Out of all those nominated, judges and sponsors whittled down submissions to a selection of finalists who represent the very best the West Midlands has to offer.
Now joining the finalists at the glittering awards ceremony on January 19 at Molineux will be Dedicoat, who will be heading up the night, introducing the finalists and helping to dish out the awards.
Dedicoat, who hails from Alvechurch, is probably best known as the 'Voice of the Balls' on the National Lottery programmes on BBC One. Until March 2015 he also read the news on BBC Radio 2.
He is also known as the announcer on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing and its American version, Dancing with the Stars, and takes part in the BBC's telethons such as Children in Need.
Dedicoat said: "It is a real delight to be returning to the West Midlands. I'm looking forward to being back and I'm sure it will feel like I'm coming home."
It is not the first time Dedicoat has teamed up with the E&S. He has also presented the E&S Business Awards in the past.
