Man taken to hospital with burns after fire at car service centre
A man has been taken to hospital with minor burns after a fire broke out at car service centre in West Bromwich.
Five crews from West Midlands Fire Service attended the scene within four minutes at Keltruck Limited on Kenrick Way, after an acetylene cylinder for an articulated lorry caught fire.
Around 20 people were evacuated from the premises and a 20-year-old male was taken to Sandwell Hospital by a colleague with minor burns and temporary deafness from a bang being caused by the fire.
Station commander Mal Fellows said: "Crews attacked the fire very defensively to bring the temperature of the cylinder down. Five crews were at the scene but we reduced it to three pumps after initially bringing the fire under control.
"We still do not know the true extent of the fire but one male is suffering minor flash burns and was swiftly taken to nearby Sandwell Hospital by a colleague."
