Stafford lorry driver arrested after two killed in crash
A lorry driver from Staffordshire has been arrested after two people were killed in a motorway collision in Essex.
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the crash on the northbound carriageway of the M11 between junction 7 at Harlow and junction 8 at Bishop's Stortford.
A 53-year-old man from the Netherlands and a 45-year-old woman from Kent died in the crash. They are believed to be brother and sister.
Essex Police said the pair died at the scene when their Toyota caught fire after being struck by other vehicles and collided with the rear of a Mercedes horse box with five horses on board.
A 49-year-old lorry driver, from Stafford, who received minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was questioned by police and later released on bail until later this year.
