Midland wards closed by winter vomiting bug
Wards at two Midland hospitals have been closed after an outbreak of norovirus.
Wards at Sandwell Hospital in West Bromwich and Walsall Manor Hospital were shut due to the winter vomiting bug.
At Sandwell Hospital, Lyndon 3 ward was closed to visitors yesterday and will be deep cleaned to try and stop the spread of the infection. It comes after two confirmed cases of the notorious sickness bug.
Meanwhile, Ward 12 at Walsall Manor Hospital was closed yesterday to admissions, transfers and visitors were turned away at the end of last week.
Hospital bosses said another four bays were also shut after patients started showing symptoms of the winter vomiting bug.
Abigail Parkin, spokeswoman for Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "We advise anyone with diarrhoea and or vomiting symptoms to stay away from hospital to prevent the spread of the infection."
