Midland Game Fair attracts 100,000 visitors to Weston Park

Almost 100,000 people flocked to the Midland Game Fair at Weston Park over a weekend of sunshine and showers.

The annual celebration of country life was celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Organisers said thousands of people flocked to the attraction on Saturday, while thousands more wrapped up warm and braved the rain yesterday.

Highlights included a range of activities in 19 arenas, live entertainment and more than 700 exhibition stands.

Some of the most popular attractions included a display by jousting team the Knights of Middle England in the main arena and The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment's parachute display team.

Andrea Webster, spokeswoman for Weston Park, said: "It has been a fantastic weekend and Saturday was glorious so everyone really enjoyed themselves. Sunday's weather wasn't as good, a little damp, but nowhere near the bad storms predicted so I can say the event was a great success."

Carrie Wilson, aged 28, from Ironbridge, said: "I went on Sunday and it was wet, but everyone seemed to be trying their best to keep the spirits up.There was so much to see and do."
