Visitors descended on Walsall Arboretum over the weekend.

There were also steam engine displays, a giant sandpit, stalls, wrestling displays and the world-famous Van Buren outdoor variety show featuring breathtaking illusions.

James Bird, aged 27, of Ogley Road, Brownhills, was at the event on Saturday with his wife Lisa, 25, and sons Alfie, three, and Archie, who is three-months-old. The father-of-two said:

"It's a great show and we go every time it's on." Michael Murty, owner of Big Pete Ltd monster truck display team, travelled from York for the event. The team put on four shows over the weekend, which involved crushing cars and pulling vehicles apart.

Walsall Town Show was resurrected by Walsall Council's leisure chief Anthony Harris in 2009 to celebrate the 150th birthday of 'King of Showmen' Pat Collins.

Organisers, Brownhills-based Pat Collins Funfairs, said they will be making a donation to Walsall Manor Hospital later this year.
