Homes in Black Country stormed in blitz on burglary
More than 100 police officers stormed homes across Brierley Hill and Birmingham in dawn raids as part of a blitz on burglars.
Officers today said six men, aged between 23 and 42, were arrested in the raids yesterday during the latest crackdown by West Midlands Police.
A property in Brierley Hill was among those raided. A man from Quarry Bank has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and was appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
In addition to the arrests, mobile phones, Sim cards, televisions, PlayStations, clothing, counterfeit DVDs and suspected drugs were seized.
The operation is targeting people who handle stolen goods or deal drugs indirectly causing addicts to steal and commit burglary to fuel addictions.
Operation Intrusive was developed by police almost one year ago following a flurry of tip-offs from members of the public who refused to put up with criminals living and operating in their neighbourhood.
So far 39 people have been arrested as part of the sting with senior officers pledging more will follow.
"We remain totally committed to targeting burglars and drug dealers to make our streets even safer", said Detective Chief Inspector Alan Simmonds, from Bournville police station.
He added: "I would reassure local people that more arrests will come in time."
