Pedestrian is badly injured in West Bromwich collision

A pedestrian suffered serious head and pelvic injuries when he was hit by a car in the Black Country.

The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was knocked down close to The New Talbot pub in Black Lake, West Bromwich, just before 10pm yesterday.

He was placed on a spinal board and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Ambulance service spokesman Steve Parry said: "A doctor travelled with the patient and the hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the casualty."
