Fashion store workers sought for £200m West Bromwich site
A recruitment drive has been launched for a store which is opening at West Bromwich's £200 million New Square development.
Clothing retailer Outfit is opening a branch at the leisure and retail complex development on June 19, and has now started looking for staff.
It is not yet known how many jobs will be created at the store, but vacancies available include three managerial roles and a number of full and part-time sales adviser positions.
The 9,300 sq ft store, part of the Arcadia Group, will have an expected turnover of £2.3 million and is one of a number of retailers signed up for the development off Cronehills Linkway, including Primark, JD Sports and Nandos.
Sandwell Council jobs and economy boss Derek Rowley has welcomed the announcement of the recruitment drive.
He said: "This means jobs for the area, as this sort of store tends to create local jobs. There's plenty of talent here in Sandwell so they don't need to go anywhere else."
The first phase of New Square will open in June 2013 with the Tesco store, Odeon Cinema, Next, Bank and the restaurant units due to open. The rest of the retailers will open later in the year. The Tesco store will start fitting out in March, ready for the first phase opening in June, when the Odeon and Next also plan to open.
Further units will open in the autumn with Primark scheduled to to be ready in December. The new jobs boost comes as a new exhibition has been set up at The Public in the town to keep people informed about New Square, including information on the retailers already signed up, the timings for store openings and construction images.
In total around 1,200 jobs will be created. A series of open days are being held by Job Centre Plus and Think Local this month. To apply for the positions available at Outfit, go to the careers and vacancies section on www.outfitfashion.com
