Woman found dead in Stafford is named as Leanne Butler
The body of a woman found in marshland by the side of a busy road in Stafford town centre has been identified.
Leanne Butler, aged 32, of Barnfield Way, was discovered in the early hours of yesterday morning on land near Asda on the A34 Ringway.
Her death is being treated as unexplained. Investigations are continuing and a post-mortem is being carried out. A stretch of the road was closed just after 3am while emergency services worked at the scene.
It is not thought the police are looking for anyone else in connection with the death. The road was re-opened just before 8am.
A police spokesman said: "Her family have been informed of her death and it is asked their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
The 24-hour Asda on Queensway was open as normal despite the disruption.
