The company will shut its base in Spon Lane, West Bromwich, from where 33 milkmen currently pick up their milk.

Dairy Crest bosses today said no workers would lose their jobs as a result of the closure and customers would not be affected.

But they confirmed those staff will now have to travel to one of the firm's other depots to pick up their supplies. The next nearest ones are in Wolverhampton, Yardley Wood in Birmingham and Redditch.

The Express & Star revealed in March how the company was planning to shut its Stourbridge depot with the loss of up to five jobs. The firm said the closure was because of a drop in demand for milk to be delivered to the door.
