Walker killed by car named as Avtar Bening
A man who was killed after being hit by a car has been named as 46-year-old Avtar Bening.
A man who was killed after being hit by a car has been named as 46-year-old Avtar Bening.
Mr Bening, aged 46, from Handsworth in Birmingham, was struck as he walked along Forge Lane in Sandwell Valley, West Bromwich at just after 10pm on Sunday.
Police collision investigators are again today appealing for witnesses.
Sgt Chris Jones, from West Midlands Police, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim walking along Forge Lane prior to the collision, or who may have seen the collision itself.
"The motorist involved has been interviewed, but we are still appealing for witnesses."
Meanwhile, an elderly woman who died after being hit by a van has also been named.
Phyllis Williams, aged 90, suffered head injuries in the collision in Sandyfields Road, Sedgley – the road in which she lived. She died hours later in hospital.
