TV superfan Mark Wilson has proven his devotion to a popular show – by hustling his way on set for a guest appearance.

His enthusiasm for BBC drama Hustle reached new heights when he discovered many of its scenes are filmed around Birmingham.

And the 43-year-old made it his quest to document his search for the filming locations.

After weeks of plotting their movements, Mark was invited to be an extra in one of the final-ever scenes of the series which concludes on screen in two weeks' time.

"I couldn't believe it when they asked me but I was delighted, it was a dream come true," he said. Millions tune in weekly to watch the show, which follows the lives of a crew of con artists led by actor Adrian Lester's character Michael 'Mickey Bricks' Stone.

Mark is keeping tight-lipped about the scene he was part of, but it does involve a fight.

The production team began filming in Birmingham three years ago with much of the city doubling as London. Mark, a married IT worker from West Bromwich, works in the city centre and realised many of the locations were nearby.

He found messages posted by other visitors to Birmingham on Twitter invaluable to begin building up a picture of where they were filming.

"When they picked Birmingham to film it gave the show that extra interest for me and I began looking for the places I knew," he said.

He eventually caught up with the crew when out in the city with his wife of 20 years, Deb, who managed to get a picture with former EastEnders star Matt Di Angelo, who plays Sean Kennedy.

The show screens on Friday nights and has two more episodes to run.
